New Tool for Blurring a video on YouTube

After the introduction of the face-blurring capability in 2012, YouTube has launched another tool that allows you blur anything in your video, whether the object moves in the video or not. However, this tool is only available on the desktop website view for now. The name of this tool is Dubbed custom Blurring

This announcement was made by the company via a blog post. Read below.

“Whether you want to blur sensitive information such as a license plate or cover up a wardrobe malfunction without reshooting an entire scene, the new Custom Blurring tool will let you blur objects throughout your video, right within YouTube”


  • first choose the video you want to edit
  • then select the Custom Blurring option from Blurring Effects tab of the Enhancement tool.
  • Once done, select the object you want to blur by drawing a box around it

With this New tool, You can move the blurred area, resize it and choose when the blur starts and stops. If it’s an object in the video that doesn’t move, you can use the “Lock” feature in the tool.
